Wisconsin Firm Named to “Innovation AveNEW”

(Marshfield, WI) Microscopy Innovations, LLC of Marshfield, WI, is one
of eight winning companies from four countries named to Innovation
AveNEW at SLAS2015, the annual conference & exhibition of the Society
for Laboratory Automation and Screening. This select group of early-stage
companies are awarded complimentary exhibit space and in-kind support for the
event, which will be held Feb. 7-11, 2015, in Washington, D.C.

“We’re delighted to have this opportunity to introduce our
automated processor for electron microscopy specimens at a major show, with an
international audience,” said CEO, Mark T. Nelson.

The company’s new automated processor increases efficiency
in laboratories preparing specimens for electron microscope imaging. It joins
the mPrep™ System product family, built around a patented, capsule-based system
that reduces specimen handling, cuts reagent consumption and tracks samples
more effectively.

“SLAS is extremely pleased to showcase innovative and
exciting technologies from the eight companies that will comprise Innovation
AveNEW at SLAS2015,” said Daniel G. Sipes, SLAS President. “Core to our
Society’s mission is to bring attention to – and to help nurture – promising
innovations that can help scientists achieve their research goals.”

Applicants for Innovation AveNEW were selected based on the
impact of the technology, commercial viability, and potential impact on the
field of laboratory automation and technology.

Over 1 billion biological specimens are prepared for
microscopic analysis annually in academic research, pharmaceutical discovery
and clinical laboratories worldwide. As conventionally practiced, specimen
preparation is time-consuming, inefficient and prone to error. The mPrep™
System not only addresses these problems, it also provides capabilities not
achievable with conventional processing.

Innovation AveNEW is a special section of the SLAS2015
Exhibition which showcases a collection of start-up companies that offer
especially creative product and services solutions for the laboratory science
and technology user community. Emerging companies from around the world
competed for positions on SLAS Innovation AveNEW. Winners were selected by an
independent judging committee of SLAS volunteers.
