In attempt to lure talented recruits to the Milwaukee area, Skills Pipeline plans to pay the travel expenses of 50 potential hires from around the Midwest so they can attend to the first-ever Milwaukee Startup Week this November.

“Growing companies need top talent, and we’re competing against other Midwestern cities for that talent in a lot of ways,” said Matt Cordio, co-founder of Skills Pipeline and Startup Milwaukee. “So it really felt like this investment was good for Milwaukee.”

Milwaukee Startup Week, which runs Nov. 1 through Nov. 6, will feature more than 20 events for investors, local leaders and southeastern Wisconsin’s startup community. The affair aims to build momentum and celebrate the region’s unique entrepreneurial identity, so it’s a perfect opportunity to showcase the local tech ecosystem to potential recruits, said Cordio, who’s company, Skills Pipeline, works with startups and growth-focused companies helping them to acquire top talent in technology, sales and marketing.
