The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is celebrating National Health IT Week by recognizing the value that IT has brought to health care.

Earlier this year, Gov. Scott Walker and the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee approved a $10 million investment for electronic health record systems in DHS facilities. These systems make it easier for healthcare professionals to reliably access patient records, decreasing medical errors and improving efficiency.

The investment supports the DHS’s participation in the federal Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Program. All Wisconsin hospitals participate in the EHR program, serving more than 10,600 care recipients.
