The report from the PitchBook database finds the university had 397 entrepreneurs and 350 companies who have gotten venture capital funding. The top two universities, Stanford and UC-Berkeley, had about 1,000 entrepreneurs and 900 companies.

UW-Madison’s venture-backed entrepreneurs pulled in $2.6 billion, though that amount is significantly lower than the other universities in the top 20.
