Alan Webber, co-founder of Fast Company magazine and author of “Rules of Thumb: 52 Truths for Winning at Business Without Losing Your Self,” will speak June 7 at the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference at Union South in Madison.

Fast Company, the fastest-growing business magazine in U.S. history, sold for $360 million in 2000. Webber’s work with emerging companies has continued with mentoring and coaching, as well as his creation of “One New Mexico” to advance that state’s economic outlook by nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation.

His latest book, “Rules of Thumb,” is a guide for people in all walks of life who want to make sense of the work-life balance in confusing, challenging and compelling times. Webber was a candidate for governor in New Mexico in 2014. A former managing editor of the Harvard Business Review, Webber was AdWeek’s Editor of the Year in 1999. Webber will speak before the awards ceremony for the Governor’s Business Plan Contest, where Gov. Scott Walker is also an invited guest.
