As were most people, I was horrified to read of the sexual harassment of women in tech startups in The New York Times. Two dozen women entrepreneurs spoke out in this article, and the stories keep coming. But I was also proud of and grateful to these brave women for telling their stories. Hopefully their bravery is the wakeup call to VCs and angel investors, leading to important changes in Silicon Valley and beyond. We need to end sexual harassment, one startup at a time.
Women entrepreneurs have some extra hurdles in attracting capital for their businesses, and I think we can all agree that sexual harassment is one hurdle that should never happen. And let’s be clear, it isn’t just Silicon Valley VCs doing this – there are unfortunate instances of this by angel investors there and in other parts of the country. At least two of the men called out in public articles are so-called super angels (Dave McClure and Chris Sacca).
