Milwaukee company Hyde Sportswear will capture the attention of a national audience this weekend when the firm makes an appearance on this Sunday’s episode of the popular TV show “Shark Tank.”

The entrepreneurs behind the firm, Mike Fox and Pat Hughes, will pitch their “wingman” product — which is a ripcord-inflating life jacket designed so the user can easily swim and move while wearing it — to investors on the show. The episode featuring the Milwaukee natives will debut Sunday at 9 p.m.

Filming for the episode occurred last June, said Fox, who couldn’t divulge specific details on his company’s appearance.

“We’re excited about the visibility this will create for our company and products,” Fox said. “(On ‘Shark Tank’) … You’re walking into a room and exposing yourself and being vulnerable, but that’s always a great experience to learn.”

The duo, who met while classmates at Marquette University High School, founded Hyde Sportswear in 2013 after Hughes participated in a half-ironman race in 2012 where one of the competitors drowned during the swimming portion of the contest.
