Early-stage tech companies in Wisconsin have been pretty successful at winning federal grant dollars that fund research and development for their products. It’s an important step that allows the companies to have a viable product to pitch before going to outside investors or bringing the product to market.

Yet it seems not enough companies in the state are taking advantage of the millions of dollars available to them.

Dave Linz, the client services director for Madison-based and University of Wisconsin-Extension’s Center of Technology Commercialization (CTC), works one-on-one with early-stage Wisconsin companies that annually compete for grants that come from a $2.5 billion pot created by the U.S. government.
