Foxconn has not given up on the idea of some kind of involvement in the Madison area, a company executive hinted Wednesday.
But Alan Yeung, director of U.S. strategic initiatives for Foxconn Technology Group, offered few specifics.Yeung said the Taiwanese electronics giant will not only build a huge factory in Racine County, it also plans to “innovate across many industries.”
He said smart transportation is one area the company is very interested in, with driverless vehicles that could increase efficiency, promote ride-sharing and reduce emissions around the plant.
Yeung also praised the Madison area as “an incubator of great companies, great ideas and great entrepreneurs.” Asked about his comment later, Yeung said in addition to its Racine campus and headquarters offices planned in Milwaukee, Foxconn “definitely will be here (in Madison).” Read the full story here.
