The event will be held at the D J Bordini Center, 5 Systems Drive, near the Fox Valley Technical College campus in Appleton. Registration and networking begin at 4:45 p.m. The cost is $5 for WIN members, $5 for students, $10 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships. Leinenkugel will discuss major economic initiatives within Gov. Jim Doyle’s “State of the State” speech, including initiatives that could apply to the Fox Valley. He’ll also discuss how the CORE jobs act and continued growth of Wisconsin’s tax credit programs for investors will help Wisconsin entrepreneurs. Leinenkugel will also touch on the state-local-private partnership that led to Mercury Marine deciding to stay in Fond du Lac, and how that’s a model for future attraction and retention strategies.

Leinenkugel became Wisconsin’s Commerce secretary in late September 2008. The department provides development assistance in areas such as marketing, business and community finance, exporting and small business advocacy. The Technology Development Loan and Grant program is managed through Commerce, as well as other programs that relate to tech-based and manufacturing economic development.
