Labofine Analytical Services and Solutions has confirmed the use of AGent+® Hard Surface spray to eliminate SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
The Labofine study, commissioned by AGent Plus Solutions LLC, the makers of AGent+® Cleaner & Protectants, reports a 99.9% reduction of SARS-CoV-2 at a three-minute contact time per applicable ASTM International Standards.
The American Journal of Infection Control published a report in May that was the first comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of products to combat COVID-19. According to the AJIC, products were deemed effective at inactivating SARS-CoV-2 when reducing greater than 99.9% of SARS-CoV-2 within a five-minute contact time. “Reducing cross-contamination from surfaces is essential in preventing the spread of illness causing germs,” said Jeffrey M. Lord, inventor and co-founder of AGent Plus Solutions LLC. “We set out over a decade ago to make the world a safer place. Our naturally derived products, developed with health and science experts, have harnessed the microbicidal, fungicidal and viricidal properties of copper and silver.”
The New England Journal of Medicine released a study conducted in March focused on the surface stability of SARS-CoV-2 and SARS-CoV-1. The report states SARS-CoV-2 was more stable on plastic (72 hours) and stainless steel (48 hours) than on copper (no viable SARS-CoV-2 was measured after four hours). “Most commercially available household cleaning products were developed over a century ago. Our patented, innovative use of copper and silver nanoparticles shows a marked improvement over traditional products, having proven our ability to not only clean surfaces but continuously protect them as well.” Lord said.
AGent+ is currently performing ASTM-E1053 efficacy testing on its Multi-Purpose formula. Both AGent+ Hard Surface and AGent+ Multi-Purpose products are scheduled to be tested under International Standard JIS Z2801 for assessment as an antimicrobial finish against SARS-CoV-2, proving AGent+’s ability to protect surfaces.
