The tech executive who oversaw the formation of StartingBlock, an ambitious entrepreneurship center under construction on Madison’s east side, is stepping down as the project’s executive director.

Scott Resnick, the chief operating officer of the software company Hardin Design and Development and a former Madison alderman, announced on Tuesday evening that he plans to become the center’s “entrepreneur-in-residence” instead.

“This is the natural next step for me with this project as I envisioned years ago,” wrote Resnick in a post on the digital publication platform Medium. “In this capacity, I will be able to regularly interact with new entrepreneurs. I hope to leverage the abilities of non-traditional entrepreneurs and explore non-traditional models of startup creation.”

 Resnick made the announcement just days after workers broke ground on an eight-story American Family Insurance building on the 800 block of East Washington Ave. that will house StartingBlock. The project received a green light from the city in December of last year. Read the full story here.
