Growth of statewide Badger Fund of Funds is topic at Dec. 5 Tech Council luncheon in Wauwatosa
December 5 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Learn more about three of the newest emerging funds to fall under the Badger Fund of Funds umbrella at the Thursday, Dec. 5 luncheon meeting of the Tech Council Innovation Network in Wauwatosa.
The Badger Fund of Funds is a limited partner seeded by the state of Wisconsin to invest in Wisconsin venture capital funds that will, in turn, invest in young Wisconsin-based ventures.
Founded in 2014, the state has committed $25 million with an additional $5 million coming from the private sector. Other Badger recipient funds include the Idea Fund of La Crosse, the Winnebago Seed Fund and the Rock River Capital Fund, all of which have also raised private dollars, closed first funds and made investments.
The event will take place at UW-Milwaukee’s Innovation Accelerator, 1225 Discovery Parkway. Registration, networking and hors d’oeuvres start at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students and returning veterans, $25 for individual members, $35 for non-members and included for Tech Council corporate members. “The Badger Fund of Funds continues to grow, not only in the number of investments its existing recipient funds have made, but in the number of funds that are affiliated with the larger fund,” said Tom Still, president of the Wisconsin Technology Council. “Learn how those funds screen young companies, how they decide where to invest, and how much money is invested in a typical deal.”
The Tech Council is the independent, non-profit science and technology adviser to the governor and Legislature, with events, publications and outreach that build Wisconsin’s tech-based economy. To join, go to www.wisconsintechnologycouncil.com or call 608-442-7557.
