MADISON – With five large music festivals each year and a major cultural center in the works, the Eau Claire region is hitting the right notes when it comes to setting itself apart as an attractive place for companies and young talent.
Learn more about the role of music and culture in the region’s economic growth at the Tuesday, Feb. 28, Tech Council Innovation Network luncheon meeting in Eau Claire. Presenters and panelists are:
- Zach Halmstad, co-founder of JAMF Software, is an owner of the newly renovated Lismore Hotel and is a partner of the newly opened Oxbow Hotel.
- Nick Meyer is the owner of the arts and culture publication Volume One, along with its retail and gallery space, The Local Store. He is also a partner in the newly opened Oxbow Hotel and The Lakely, a boutique hotel, restaurant and music venue.
- Sean Carey, active participant in the Eau Claire music scene, is most notably known as an integral member of the band Bon Iver, as well as his own project, Carey.
- Jason Jon Anderson, assistant director of conferences and event production at UW-Eau Claire, production director Eaux Claires Festival and production manager of Bon Iver.
The luncheon will be held at the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center, 77 Roosevelt Avenue, Dakota Room 340. Registration and networking begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for individual members, $35 for non-members and included for Tech Council corporate members. “With events such as the Eaux Claires and Blue Ox festivals, and venues such as the under-construction Confluence Center, the Chippewa Valley is building a reputation as a place where people want to live, work and play,” said Tom Still, president of the Tech Council. “We’ll explore how that reputation can continue to attract companies and talent to the region.”
