MILWAUKEE – Programs aimed at accredited investors and other high-net-worth individuals who may be interested in early-stage investing are featured at the sixth annual Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference in Milwaukee.

Accredited investors may attend the I-Q Corridor Investors’ Forum, where John May, chairman of the national Angel Capital Association, will provide an overview on co-investing and lead a group discussion on a new, regional co-investing network being formed by the Wisconsin Angel Network and its partners. Sue Strommer, president of the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds, will also take part in the I-Q Corridor Investors’ Forum.
Accredited investors may also attend a tutorial on Angelsoft, software designed to enhance deal flow between networks. This software will be soon be adopted by WAN. Leading the tutorial will be members of the New York-based Angelsoft team.
Other investor-related programs, which are open to all conference attendees:
- The First Look forum, which will offer a sneak preview of nine technologies from researchers at UW System and private universities and colleges. This is patterned after the First Look forums sponsored by the UW-Madison Office of Corporate Relations, with support from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
- Presentations by four category winners in the 2008 Governor’s Business Plan Contest. About 260 plans were submitted to the fifth annual contest.
- The June 9 awards dinner for the Governor’s Business Plan Contest, which will feature G. Steven Burrill, founder of Burrill & Co., a California-based merchant bank with about $950 million in assets under management.
- A June 10 breakfast speech by NASVF’s Strommer.
The Entrepreneurs’ Conference is produced by the Wisconsin Technology Council, the independent, non-profit science and technology advisers to the Governor and the Legislature. It serves as a catalyst for the growth of Wisconsin’s tech-based and entrepreneurial economy.
Other conference highlights include the Ken Hendricks Memorial “Seize the Day” award; speeches by Craig Culver of Culver Franchising Systems and Anne Zizzo of Zizzo Advertising + Public Relations; hands-on panel discussions; dozens of exhibits and a wealth of networking opportunities.
