A thin piece of silicon that serves as the brain of the latest high-end iPhones and iPads is at the heart of a lawsuit the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation has filed against Apple Inc.

At issue is whether Apple’s A7
processor — used in the iPhone 5S, theiPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display — incorporates technology patented by Gurindar Sohi and three other University of Wisconsin-Madison professors in 1998. Read the full Milwaukee Journal Sentinel story here.
