Jay Bayne, an entrepreneurial computer science and engineering professor who was the Milwaukee Institute’s first executive director, said Wednesday he is retiring from that post, effective immediately.
Nick Lindberg, the institute’s engineering director, has been named interim executive director, Bayne said in an email to friends and business colleagues. Lindberg was previously a computer engineer at IBM.
The Milwaukee Institute is a nonprofit organization that promotes high-performance computing in the region. It was founded in 2007 with funding from Mason Wells, Metavante, Rockwell Automation Inc. and Johnson Controls Inc. John Byrnes, then executive managing director of Mason Wells, was the driving force behind the formation of the institute.
