Tommy Thompson still knows how to work a room.

The former Wisconsin governor thanked faculty members during a graduation ceremony last week at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, calling them “some of the greatest professors in the United States of America.”

Well, that line didn’t get enough applause for Tommy’s taste, so he told the crowd: “You can be a little bit more enthusiastic than that — these are great professors.”

They are, indeed, Tommy.

Sadly, we could use more enthusiasm from state leaders about the great professors and quality of higher education we have at our UW campuses, from La Crosse to Eau Claire, Milwaukee to Menomonie and throughout the system.
