Early stage companies in Wisconsin and beyond will learn how to increase their chance of receiving federal grant dollars on Aug. 11 during the fourth annual “Resource Rendezvous.”
The conference, produced by the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, the Wisconsin Technology Council and the UW-Madison College of Engineering, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the UW-Madison College of Engineering, 1415 Engineering Drive. Gregory Milman, director of the Office for Innovation and Special Programs in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases will conduct a workshop on how to write winning federal grant proposals. Milman manages the $100 million NIAID small business programs and is acclaimed for his advice on National Institutes of Health grant preparation and research funding.
Milman will share personal insight on the secrets of the $700 million NIH Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. He will illustrate strategies for producing winning proposals, tips on reviewing NIH criteria and offer advice on writing overall better proposals. He will also explain how to attract and retain the attention of grant reviewers.
The Resource Rendezvous will also feature early stage companies presenting to key people in federal agencies during the Elevator Pitch presentations. Additionally, attendees will have opportunities to learn about the research and development interests and related funding opportunities of participating agencies.
