Live from Boston: Wisconsin BIO blog to track convention events

Follow the activities of Wisconsin’s delegation at the 2007 BIO convention in Boston by reading the “Wisconsin BIO Blog” beginning Friday, May 5. The May 6-9 BIO meeting will attract about 20,000 people from around the world.

Offered through WisBusiness.com, the blog will include updates, interviews and video feeds concerning Wisconsin participants in the annual convention. It also includes background information from the Wisconsin Technology Council on Wisconsin’s growing biotech and medical devices industries.

The blog will also include links to live presentations in Wisconsin’s “BioTheater,” which is part of the Wisconsin Pavilion at the BostonConvention Center. Those presentations may also be viewed through wan.mediasite.com, through cooperation with Madison-based Sonic Foundry.

Presentations on Monday, May 7 will include Gala Biotech, Platypus Technologies, Stemina Biomarker Discovery, Inc., Caden Biosciences, GE Healthcare, Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation, SAFC, Marshfield Clinic, and Gov. Jim Doyle along with UW-Madison researcher Yoshihiro Kawaoka and former U.S. ambassador Tom Loftus.

Presentations on Tuesday, May 8 will feature Quincy Bioscience, EraGen Biosciences, Gilson Inc. and Mithridion, Covance Laboratories, Medical College of Wisconsin Research Foundation, Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, Clonex Development.

Presentations on Wednesday, May 9 will feature Wisconsin Biotechnology & Medical Device Association and EPICENTRE Biotechnologies.

Throughout the convention, Tech Council President Tom Still, Wisconsin Angel Network director Joe Kremer and Tech Council communications assistant Ryann Petit-Frere will offer updates.

The Tech Council is the independent, non-profit and non-partisan science and tech policy advisers to the governor and the Legislature.
