Marquette University President Mike Lovell will describe progress on the $600-million campus master plan as well as the university role’s in spurring regional growth at the Thursday, Sept. 14 meeting of the Tech Council’s Innovation Network in Wauwatosa.
The event will take place at UW-Milwaukee’s Innovation Accelerator, 1225 Discovery Parkway. Registration, networking and hors d’oeuvres start at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for individual members, $35 for non-members and included for Tech Council corporate members. Lovell will talk about how Marquette’s eight-year plan ties into growth plans for the city and southeast Wisconsin. The campus plan includes a residence hall under construction as well as an athletic performance research center, a BioDiscovery District, an Innovation Alley, a new business school and more.
Drawing on his experiences in Pittsburgh, where Lovell was an engineering professor and research dean during Google’s expansion in that city, he will also talk about the likely effects of a Foxconn presence in Wisconsin. He will also discuss what the Tech Council has dubbed the “I-Q Corridor” connecting Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison and beyond.
