Milwaukee’s BrightStar Wisconsin Foundation Inc. has announced the three Wisconsin startup companies that each won $5,000 for winning regional competitions through its Hatch program, a free community-based startup pitch program.

At the three regional finales in November, companies had five minutes to pitch in front of a panel of judges and a live audience.

Here are the winners from each finale:

  • Southeastern Wisconsin Hatch Regional Finale (in Racine) – Quisine, a startup created by three Carthage College students who developed an app that suggests recipes to people based on what ingredients they have in their kitchen;
  • Central Wisconsin Hatch Regional Finale (in Plover) – Amira Learning, a Wisconsin Rapids company using artificial intelligence to help teach children how to read;
  • Chippewa Valley Hatch Regional Finale (in Eau Claire) – Earthbound Environmental Solutions LLC, an Eau Claire company pioneering a residential and commercial curbside organics recycling program.

Hatch events are attended by other entrepreneurs, professional service firms, banks, business leaders and investors. Newaukee, a social architecture firm, coordinates the Hatch events. Read the full story here.
