Fiserv Inc. is collaborating with ExxonMobile, one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world, to give consumers the ability to pay for their gas at the pump station using the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant device.

Through the technology, motorists with vehicles that have Alexa built in, have Echo Auto, or contain Alexa-enabled devices, can activate a transaction at the pump simply by saying “Alexa, pay for gas,” according to an announcement from Fiserv (Nasdaq: FISV) on Monday. The transactions would be processed using an Amazon Pay account and payment technology provided by Fiserv.

“As consumer expectations change, there is growing demand for frictionless interactions that span the digital and physical worlds,” said Devin McGranahan, senior group president of global business solutions at Fiserv, in a statement. “The age of connected commerce is here, and voice-activated smart devices will play a pivotal role in the future of payments by streamlining the way consumers make purchases every day.”

The tech will be available at more than 11,500 Exxon and Mobil stations in the U.S. later this year, according to Fiserv. The tech is currently being demonstrated in the Amazon Automotive booth at CES 2020 in Las Vegas.
