In September of 2016, Milwaukee entrepreneur Kiley Peters launched Brainchild Studios, a digital marketing and website creation startup designed to help companies market their products and services to female consumers.

After revisiting her business plan, Peters, a Marquette University graduate, decided a marketing service catering to all women consumers was too broad. A marketing focus on the millennial-aged woman, specifically mothers, she thought, was more relatable to her and potential clients.

“One, they have insane buying power,” Peters said. “Two, they have different expectations of brands than mothers of previous generations, and three, most of our team are millennials, half which are millennial moms and a handful that hope to be moms someday, myself included. So it was like, ‘Let’s do what we know,’ and in that vein, we can be as authentic as possible.”

Finding a niche for Brainchild Studios has certainly worked in Peters’ favor.

From 2017 to 2018, her company experienced year-over-year growth of 189%, followed by 29% growth between 2018 and 2019. Peters is projecting 15% growth this year while expanding her company’s brand through a series of marketing studies on millennial moms, from their financial habits to trends in the types of health care they receive.
