In 2019, Milwaukee corporations, entrepreneurs, startups and the organizations that support emerging businesses showed tremendous progress in banding together to highlight and move the region’s tech industry forward.

Among the major moments supporting that conclusion were the official launch of the MKE Tech Hub Coalition, the annual Milwaukee Tech Showcase moving to Fiserv Forum to accommodate growth and the second annual Fall Experiment moving to the Wisconsin Center.

To add, Startup Milwaukee Week, in its fourth year, added new panel discussion topics focused on venture capital and diversitySummerfest Tech doubled in size and included insight from top executives at Dell Technologies and Johnson Controls, a pitch competition and a music technology conversation with Grammy-nominated DJ Steve Aoki; and Brookfield-based SysLogic again partnered with Milwaukee School of Engineering for the second annual Cybersecurity Summit, which drew twice as many professionals than the inaugural event.

At each event, speakers and panelists addressed themes and trends they said were impacting their businesses and the industry. Here are the top five themes in technology Milwaukee professionals talked about in 2019, and will likely have the most impact on the Milwaukee tech industry in 2020.
