Wisconsin companies have greatly benefited from advertising their businesses through Google’s search tool and advertising tools like AdWords and AdSense, according to a report filed by the multimedia technology giant.

In 2017, the Mountain View, Calif.-based company helped provide $3.73 billion in economic activity for 16,000 Wisconsin businesses, website publishers, and nonprofits, almost double the impact of $1.94 billion in 2016.

To compare, the economic impact of Google search and ad tools activity for the entire United States in 2017 was $283 billion and $222 billion in 2016.

Google’s economic impact is measured by the profit companies receive from web clicks on search results and ads, minus their cost of advertising, estimated as an $8 profit for every $1 spent, according to Google. Read the full story here.
