Ed Javier, co-founder of Milwaukee Startup Week, has been named entrepreneurship program director at Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., a department that funds and supports initiatives that advance startup activity across the state.

Javier, who moved to Wisconsin in 2016, is also one of the organizers of Startup Milwaukee Emerge, a platform where startups in the Milwaukee area pitch their businesses to investors, service providers and innovation executives. In a Q&A posted on the WEDC website, Javier said he started working with startups in 2000 while living in Chicago and moved to Milwaukee after a startup he was operating was sold. His wife is originally from the Milwaukee area, he said.

WEDC’s entrepreneurship programs have assisted 314 emerging companies since 2016. Read the full story here.
