Young professionals in Milwaukee who want to help solve some of the city’s biggest challenges, but don’t know where to start, can be connected to civic involvement through a new program starting in 2019.

Co:lab, a civic accelerator being launched by NEWaukee, The Commons and Startup Milwaukee, will be a series of workshops coaching young professionals on leadership and management skills but also on ways they can use their talents to help solve an issue in Milwaukee.

The accelerator, about two months in length, will pair individuals from various industries on teams to find solutions around job growth, public health and safety, and urban planning, among other things. The accelerator is similar to the model used by The Commons, an entrepreneurial skills accelerator for college students in southeast Wisconsin. College students are placed on teams to come up with a business solution for a Wisconsin company. In this case, the teams will comprise emerging young professionals. Read the full story here.
