Manufacturing will return to Rockwell Automation Inc.’s iconic clock tower headquarters building in Milwaukee sometime in March of this year, Rockwell’s chairman and CEO Blake Moret said Wednesday.

Moret announced at the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Power Breakfast in September 2018 that a manufacturing line would be returning to Rockwell’s 2-million-square-foot headquarters at 1201 S. Second St. in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood.

“When I started with the company back in the ’80s, we had a lot of manufacturing in the building. Over time, a lot of that moved out,” Moret said.

The CEO said the industrial automation technology manufacturer has a significant manufacturing footprint in Wisconsin with facilities in Mequon, Richland Center, Ladysmith and Middleton. Moret wanted to bring a line to Milwaukee, however, to showcase advanced technology, the company’s work with partners and what the company is doing in workforce development.
