A Silicon Valley company whose business affairs are handled from Wisconsin recently secured $11.5 million in investment capital to grow its cloud-computing platform that allows developers to embed voice, messaging and video capabilities into applications.

SignalWire Inc. has a primary office in Palo Alto, California, but its CEO and founder Anthony Minessale is located in Brookfield. Minessale travels to California often and said the company employs people working from all parts of the globe.

The company’s Series A funding round was led by Menlo Park, California-based Storm Ventures. Other investors in the round included Samsung Next Ventures, a San Francisco venture capital firm owned by Samsung Electronics; Sequoia Capital, also based in Menlo Park; and individual investments from Eric Yuan, the CEO and founder of Zoom Video Communications (Nasdaq: ZM); Dean Drako, the founder of Barracuda Networks; Jerry Yang, the former CEO and co-founder of Yahoo Inc and founding partner of AME Cloud Ventures; and Ron Neuenberger, who created AngelFire.com.
