It was roughly 20Â years ago that Milwaukee Regional Medical Center began seeing an upswing in development, says Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride.
Now, the center’s institutions — including Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital and Children’s Wisconsin — are growing so much that the center is planning a major road extension and adding a stop on a new rapid bus line to help accommodate the increasing number of employees, students and patients.
Meanwhile, Children’s is planning a 2023 completion of its latest expansion, the Medical College is breaking ground on a new cancer research center, plans are proceeding to build a new state crime lab on the center’s grounds, and an apartment community just north of the medical center opened recently and is targeting medical students.
