MADISON – Companies and researchers in Wisconsin and beyond will learn how to tap into the technology portfolios of the U.S. Agricultural Research Service on Aug. 11 during the fourth annual “Resource Rendezvous.”

 

The conference, produced by the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, the Wisconsin Technology Council and the UW-Madison College of Engineering, will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11 at the UW-Madison College of Engineering, 1415 Engineering Drive. Four speakers from ARS, which is the research arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will describe technologies available for transfer to companies and researchers, as well as how to engage ARS through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. The work of ARS around food security technologies will be showcased.

Speakers from ARS are: Renee Wagner, technology transfer coordinator for the agency’s Mid-Atlantic Region; Paul Sebesta, director of the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria, Ill.; Kurt Zuelke, director of the National Animal Disease Center in Ames, Iowa; and Martin Carson, research leader at the Cereal Disease Laboratory in St. Paul, Minn.

 

“This is a great opportunity for companies and researchers to tap into the work of ARS, which has scientists at work across the nation,” said WSRC Director Jack Heinemann.

 

The Resource Rendezvous will also feature early stage companies presenting to key people in federal agencies during the Elevator Pitch presentations.  Additionally, attendees will have opportunities to learn about the R&D interests and related funding opportunities of participating agencies.
