U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg Tom Barrett and three former U.S. ambassadors from Wisconsin headlined a free, virtual luncheon Wednesday, April 20 on the effects of the war in Ukraine on trade and the overall economy.

The webinar was part of the WisBusiness.com-Wisconsin Technology Council’s Trade Policy Initiative, which organizes four events per year on trade and the Wisconsin economy. Click here to watch the webinar.

Taking part in the noon Central Time webinar was: Barrett, who is a former Milwaukee major and member of Congress; Richard Graber, who was ambassador to the Czech Republic from 2006 to 2009; Mark Green, who was ambassador to Tanzania from 2007 to 2009 and former administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development; and Tom Loftus, who was ambassador to Norway from 1993 to 1998 and later served as a special advisor to the head of the World Health Organization.

From exports of wheat and nickel, and from supplies of oil and neon, the war in Ukraine has already disrupted supply chains leading directly to the European Union. The effects on the United States and Wisconsin are hitting home, as well, and this bipartisan panel will discuss what they see on the horizon.

Tech Council President Tom Still moderated; Jeff Mayers of WisBusiness.com hosted.
