Ziegler was the co-founder and managing partner of the investment firm Artisan, which has 350 employees and manages $97 billion in assets. Ziegler, who was a UW-Madison undergrad and went to its law school, retired from Artisan in 2014 but is still on the board of directors.

Salm’s company, which he founded with his three brothers, makes hot dogs and sausages for companies that put a brand on them. Salm, a College of Agricultural and Life Sciences graduate, has worked at Oscar Mayer, Johnsonville Sausage and ConAgra.

Past award winners include Epic’s Judy Faulkner, investor Sheldon Lubar, professor and entrepreneur Mark Cook, WebMD founder Pavan Nigam and developer Jon Hammes.
