The company, which has raised $2.5 million so far, was launched by UW-Madison statistics professor Peter Qian, who studies the uncertainty quantification field. Qian’s software helps manufacturers through statistical analyses that predict how all possible variables of a product would play out.

Qian said all the investors in the round have Wisconsin ties and that Smart UQ is looking to hire new employees in engineering, marketing and sales.
