“We’re hoping that July 15, people are complying and they do file on time at that point because at that juncture, we’re going to desperately need that,”
– Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca

During a recent Newsmakers interview, Sec. Barca discussed how the delayed tax filing deadline will affect Wisconsin revenue and noted that his department has already processed over two million of the three million filers in the state. However, those filers are looking for a refund rather than paying their tax liability. In regards to the federal stimulus checks that are being sent out, Sec. Barca explained that those are subject to federal and state taxes, but it is something that the department “is attempting to potentially address as the Governor and Legislature are negotiating items moving forward.”
