Verona-based Epic Systems is collaborating with the Trump administration on a new federal initiative to develop a set of electronic health tools.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is overseeing this work, with the goal of building “smarter, more secure and more personalized health care experience,” according to the administration’s announcement in July.

The project plans to focus on two areas: more access to personalized tools for patients to better understand their medical information and promotion of a federal network that would allow health systems to exchange and use information in a coordinated, secure way.
