A venture capital-backed firm from San Francisco whose CEO hopes to one day be the “Starbucks of health care” is expanding to Wisconsin to open urgent-care clinics and partner on specialty care with the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin health network.

Wauwatosa-based Froedtert Health and Carbon Health announced Monday forming a strategic partnership they said will enhance the convenience of accessing health care and “redefine health care delivery in the Wisconsin market.” The partnership is envisioned to bolster Froedtert & the Medical College in its competition for market share with the other major health care systems in Wisconsin including Advocate Aurora Health and Ascension Wisconsin and even UW Health of Madison.

The partnership will launch operations in early 2023 by opening of the first Wisconsin Carbon Health clinics. Financial terms of the partnership weren’t disclosed.
