Panther Partnering aims to simplify IP dealsLearn more Dec. 1, at the Tech Council Innovation Network luncheon in Wauwatosa

Major research universities have discoveries available for licensing. Companies of all sizes look for innovative ideas and products to take to market. What happens, however, if cumbersome negotiations get in the way of efficient “tech transfer”?

The UW-Milwaukee Research Foundation has launched “Panther Partnering,” to make such transactions easier, especially firms looking for market-ready research. Learn how it will work Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Tech Council Innovation Network luncheon in Wauwatosa.

The program aims to increase research funding in the form of industry sponsorships and to boost the number of university innovations that break into the marketplace. Major elements of “Panther Partnering” will make research deals and associated intellectual property licensing more transparent, simpler and negotiation-free at fair terms.

Panelists are Michael Andrew, director for corporate relations for the UW-Milwaukee College of Engineering and Applied Science office of the dean; Kyle Crum, senior manager for the advanced technology laboratory at Rockwell Automation; and Jessica Silvaggi, vice president of the UWM Research Foundation.

The event will take place at UWM’s Innovation Accelerator, 1225 Discovery Parkway. Registration, networking and hors d’oeuvres start at 11:30 a.m. and the presentation at 12:30 p.m.
