A surge of renewable energy projects have been brought online or are in the works in the Fox Cities to reduce humanity’s carbon footprint, or emission of greenhouse gases.

Appleton has solar electric and biogas systems in place and will add more solar capacity and geothermal heating and cooling as part of the $39 million renovation and expansion of its public library.

The Neenah school district will install a $5 million geothermal system beneath the new Neenah High School under construction in Fox Crossing. The city of Neenah has been generating solar power for a decade and recently added a second solar array.
