In a decision that likely clears a path for Milwaukee to host the Republican National Convention, the Nashville Metro Council voted Tuesday night against a last-ditch motion for Music City to host the 2024 event.
The vote was ten in favor, 22 against and three abstaining.
Supporters of Nashville hosting the convention held out slim hope that the Democratic-controlled Metro Council would approve an agreement. Time was of the essence because the Republican National Committee is meeting in Chicago this week and on Friday is expected to finalize the convention host city.
