The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) today released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary employment estimates for the month of July 2022. The state added 10,000 private-sector jobs and 9,900 total nonfarm jobs and the state’s unemployment rate was 3.0% in July.
• Place of Residence Data: Wisconsin’s labor force participation rate declined to 66.2% in July, down from 66.4% in June, but still 4.1 percentage points higher than the national rate of 62.1%. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate in July was 3.0%, remaining near historic lows.
• Place of Work Data: Wisconsin added 10,000 private-sector jobs and 9,900 total nonfarm over the month. Over the year, Wisconsin has added 40,100 private-sector jobs and 36,300 total nonfarm jobs.
“Today’s report shows that Wisconsin’s economy continues to add jobs while our unemployment rate remains near record lows,” DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek said. “Wisconsin employers continue to have jobs available, and at DWD, we will work tirelessly to connect workers with well-paying career opportunities by providing top-tier worker training and placement services through one of our many programs including apprenticeship, Wisconsin Fast Forward, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and others.”
