Microsoft Corp.’s $1 billion data center proposed for Mount Pleasant represents the largest capital investment by a company in southeast Wisconsin since at least 2005, and could put surrounding vacant land on the map to attract similar projects.

Those were some of the points made Tuesday to Racine County Board members who next week will consider approving agreements needed to move Microsoft’s data center forward. County supervisors during that meeting asked about potential water usage by the data center, and the number of jobs it would create. Both of those remain unknown.
