The Medical College of Wisconsin has opened its $150 million cancer research center − a project years in the making.

The five-story building will allow the Medical College to expand and centralize its cancer labs, equipment and staff now spread out across the campus at the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center in Wauwatosa, said Gustavo Leone, director of the cancer center.

Known as the Center for Cancer Discovery, the 160,000-square-foot building will house 80 to 90 labs and accommodate more than 400 staff, Leone said.
