Microsoft is exploring the possibility of building a new data center in the Village of Caledonia, the Redmond, Washington-based tech giant confirmed Tuesday evening.

As first reported by BizTimes in July, Caledonia officials have been considering a proposal to develop a data center on a 245-acre site at the intersection of Douglas Avenue and County Line Road, near the border with Milwaukee County. The land is currently owned by We Energies.

Microsoft revealed Tuesday that it is “in conversation” with village officials regarding the project, which has until now been referred to as “Project Nova” by the engineering firm representing the company.
