Cap Times: Epic Systems is starting sixth campus, and it’s from ‘Other Worlds’

Verona health records giant Epic Systems has broken ground on its newest campus, following approval this month from the city’s Plan Commission.

In line with the fantastical designs of the existing buildings, the sixth campus, called Other Worlds, will draw inspiration from “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Chronicles of Narnia,” with a “floating forest” and plenty of references to elves.

The company, which has grown steadily since its founding in 1979, now has more than 13,000 employees, with around 12,500 of them based in Verona, spokesperson Jacob Wright said. That’s an increase of nearly 4,000 on-site staff since 2018.
