A delegation from the German state of Saxony-Anhalt will visit Wisconsin next week to learn more about technology transfer and entrepreneurism.

Headed by Birgitta Wolff, Saxony-Anhalt’s minister of the economics and technology, the group of about 20 representatives of industry and academia will visit Madison and Milwaukee, Oct. 24-26, following a visit to Atlanta.

The group will meet with tech transfer experts from the UW-Madison, the Medical College of Wisconsin, the UW-Milwaukee and the Blood Center of Wisconsin; leaders of five tech-based companies; leaders of University Research Park, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, the Wisconsin Technology Council and its Wisconsin Angel Network.

The delegation will also attend Thursday’s “Science of Beer” event at MillerCoors in Milwaukee.

Wolff attended a Tech Council board meeting in April, heard an overview of the state’s tech-based assets and will return with the larger group.

“There is a great deal we can learn from our friends in Saxony-Anhalt, and we’re looking forward to this exchange,” said Tom Still, president of the Tech Council.
