Plants grown by Fork Farms are seen inside the business at Titletown Tech in Ashwaubenon

ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) — A company at TitletownTech was visited by Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation’s secretary and CEO.

Fork Farms makes an innovative indoor farming system. It allows people to grow nearly 400 pounds of food a year in just nine square feet.

The business was certified by the WEDC as a qualified new business venture last month. It allows investors in the young company to be eligible for tax credits.

“Well, what we really want to do is keep investment here in Wisconsin,” WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes said. “So if we can help mitigate some of the risk for investors by giving them a tax credit, let them take that extra step and maybe invest a little bit more, it’s going to help businesses like Alex’s be more successful and have a chance of really going to market.”

The WEDC also highlighted the importance of Gov. Evers’ $100 million venture capital plan.
