HarQen Inc. of Milwaukee, a firm that focuses on collaborative voice services, has raised $2.5 million in its current $4 million round of venture capital funding, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported.

HarQen co-founder and CEO E. Kelly Fitzsimmons told a recent news conference in Madison that the successful round of investment funding demonstrates the type of women-led entrepreneurial companies that are doing their part to get the Wisconsin economy moving again. HarQen will use the money to hire a chief intellectual property officer and create about a dozen others jobs over time, Fitzsimmons said.

Fitzsimmons is a member of the board of directors for the Wisconsin Technology Council.
