While Wisconsin faces as many economic challenges as the next state (maybe fewer, given “the next state” is Illinois), I assured this London-based journalist that even the Great Recession has failed to extinguish the hope that tomorrow in Wisconsin can be brighter than today.

That hope endures, even if many of the facts test our faith.

The Oct. 5 Wisconsin Economic Summit in Milwaukee presented an urgent and unvarnished look at Wisconsin’s long-term economic crisis – a slide that began long before the recession – and offered a strategic plan for restoring competitiveness.
